Whale Sharks: how whale sharks feed

The whale shark is the worlds largest fish, reaching lengths up to 12m. It is a filter feeder, consuming planktonic and nektonic prey. They utilize suction, rather than the forward motion of swimming, which allows water to be drawn in at a higher velocity, enabling whale sharks to capture prey in higher volumes and prey that are more active.
